Faculty and staff are responsible for notifying RSP PreAward staff as soon as possible if they intend to apply to any grant competition with a submission limit.

The following is a list of limited submission opportunities to which UNI regularly applies. This is not a comprehensive list. Deadlines are approximate; for current program deadlines consult the specific grant program website or guidelines.

A secondary school applicant must submit a certification that there is no other eligible entity in the proposed target area that is capable of carrying out a UB program project.

Challenge Grants

Institutions are permitted to apply for or hold only one NEH challenge grant at a time, but they are eligible to apply for subsequent NEH challenge grants beginning in the fourth year after the closing date of their most recent NEH challenge grant. For example, if a grant closes in 2006, the earliest year to submit a subsequent grant application would be 2010.  Applicants may apply either at the May or the November deadline, but not both within the same 12-month period.

Each college and university in the United States and its jurisdictions may nominate two faculty members. Each can be either a junior or a senior faculty member.

An institution may submit one proposal from each constituent school or college that awards degrees in an eligible field.

Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program

An institution, on its own or as a member of a consortium, may submit no more than one Noyce proposal per Noyce competition. For FY 2008, proposals are being solicited in six EHR programs that advance I3 goals: CREST, ITEST, MSP, Noyce, RDE, and TCUP. Given the focus on institutional integration, an institution may submit only one proposal to the I3 competition in only one program.

Geoscience Education Program (GeoEd)

Track 2 (Organizations)--An organization (e.g., university or museum) may be the lead organization on only one Track 2 proposal per competition.

Chemistry Research Instrumentation and Facilities: Departmental Multi-User Instrumentation (CRIF:MU)

A maximum of two CRIF:MU proposals per institution will be accepted . If an institution submits two proposals, at least one of the two proposals must involve cyberinfrastructure.

Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) Program Instrument Development and Acquisition

An organization may submit or be included as a partner or subawardee in no more than three proposals. If an organization submits or is included as a partner or subawardee in three proposals, at least one of the three proposals must be for greater than $1,000,000.

Partnership for International Research and Education (PIRE)

An eligible U.S. institution may submit a maximum of three preliminary proposals as the lead institution.

Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) in Engineering and Computer Science Three site proposals may be submitted per competition by a U.S. academic institution, College/Department of Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Computer and Information Science as the lead institution. February 1 and October 1
