Grants & Contracts Funded Faculty Summer Salary
Eligibility
The following types of positions are eligible for summer appointments:
- Faculty
- Graduate Assistants
- Others with academic year appointments
Summer appointments must not be created for positions with 12 month appointment lengths. This is not to be confused with faculty and others who elect to have their Academic year salary paid over 12 months.
Summer starts 19-May-2025 and ends 20-Aug-2025.
Information Needed Before Starting
- Effective Date. Cannot be earlier than 19-May-2025 and must end no later than 20-Aug-2025.
- Dates of the summer appointment.
- Percent of time. Note: 100% is at least 40 hour per week.
- Academic Year Salary.
- Summer Declaration Form.
- Grant Worktags.

- Percent of Time: 50%
- Number of Days: 10
- Salary Paid: 0.5 * (10 / 22) * ($75,000 / 9) = $1,893.94
- Proposed Labor Distribution Percent of Salary: 100%
Example II
Working May from 5/19/2025 to 5/30/2025 for half days with AY salary of $75,000.00 on grant A.
Working May from 5/19/2025 to 5/30/2025 for half days with AY salary of $75,000.00 on grant B.
- Percent of Time: 100%
- Number of Days: 10
- Salary Paid: (10 / 22) * ($75,000 / 9) = $3,787.88
- Proposed Labor Distribution Percent of Salary: 50% on each account
Example III
Working May from 5/19/2025 to 5/27/2025 all day with AV salary of $75,000.00 on grant A.
Working May from 5/28/2025 to 5/30/2025 all day with AV salary of $75,000.00 on grant B.
- Percent of Time: 100%
- Number of Days on Grant A: 7
- Salary Paid on Grant A: (7 / 22) * ($75,000 / 9) = $2,651.52
- Number of Days on Grant B: 3
- Salary Paid on Grant B: (3 / 22) * ($75000 / 9) = $1,136.36
- Total Salary: $2,651.52 + $1,136.36= $3,787.88
- Proposed labor distribution percent of salary grant A:
- ($2,651.52 / $3,787.88) * 100 = 70%
- Proposed labor distribution percent of salary grant B:
- ($1136.36 / $3,787.88) * 100 = 30%
