Proposal Routing and Approval - Cayuse Sponsored Projects

Cayuse & RSP logos

The Principal Investigator or Project Director of a sponsored project assumes significant financial and regulatory risk management responsibilities on behalf of the university. Thus, prior approval of all proposals for external funding is required. See the Submission Approval page for more details.

Cayuse Proposal Form

Proposal Form must be created in Cayuse Sponsored Projects prior to each grant or contract proposal submission. The Proposal Form gathers key information about the project and is routed for required certifications (from key personnel) and approvals (from RSP, department heads and deans of key personnel, and approvers for various compliance considerations).

You will be prompted to upload the following documents to the Proposal Form:

  • Request for Proposals / Grant Guidelines
  • Project Abstract or Scope of Work
  • Budget
  • Budget Justification

An existing project needs a new Proposal Form if:

  • The project period is extended beyond the original end date, and additional funding and/or a new scope of work is awarded that was not previously anticipated

An existing project does not need a new Proposal Form if:

  • It was proposed/submitted as a multi-year project and the next anticipated funding increment is being awarded
  • The project period is extended by the sponsor at the request of UNI
  • Additional funds are provided by the sponsor, but there is no change in scope of work
