Iowa Arts Council Arts Build Communities Opportunity

The Iowa Arts Council has asked UNI to participate in their arts initiative, "Arts Build Communities." Arts Build Communities is designed to provide support for arts projects that uniquely address civic challenges and community issues through the arts. The Iowa Arts Council will provide grants of up to $10,000 to local communities to carry out their art/civic community issue.  Click here for more information.

Read about Andrey Petrov's Reindeer Research

Andrey Petrov has been awarded many grants from the National Science Foundation to study the Arctic. His research was featured in Iowa Science Interface. You can read about his research on the Taimyr reindeer herd. Petrov is an associate professor of geography and geospatial technology and is the academic director of GeoTREE. He is also the director of UNI's Arctic Social and Environmental Systems Research Lab and is the director of the Program in Research and Outreach in Geography between Russia and the United States. Cases That Keep Up Up at Night: 2014 Ethics Conference is scheduled for September 24, 2014, at Allen College Campus from noon to 4:45 p.m. You can download the flyer, agenda and registration materials or register online. Topics include discussions on distress, patient advocacy, ethical values and conflicts. Deadline for registration is September 15, 2014.

Graduate College Faculty Showcase scheduled for the afternoon of October 6, 2014. This event will take place in Seerly and will feature poster presentations, oral presentations and refreshments. Details about this event forthcoming.
