Grants & Contracts Funded Faculty Summer Salary

Eligibility

The following types of positions are eligible for summer appointments:

  • Faculty
  • Graduate Assistants
  • Others with academic year appointments

Summer appointments must not be created for positions with 12-month appointment lengths. This is not to be confused with faculty and others who elect to have their Academic year salary paid over 12 months.

Summer starts 18-May-2026 and ends 19-Aug-2026.

Information Needed Before Starting

  1. Effective Date. Cannot be earlier than 18-May-2026 and must end no later than 19-Aug-2026.
  2. Dates of the summer appointment.
  3. Percent of time. Note: 100% is at least 40 hour per week.
  4. Academic Year Salary.
  5. Summer Declaration Form.
  6. Grant Worktags.

Example I

Working May from 5/18/2026 to 5/29/2026 for half days with AY salary of $75,000.00 on a grant.

  • Percent of Time: 50%
  • Number of Days: 10
  • Salary Paid: 0.5 * (10 / 21) * ($75,000 / 9) = $1,984.13
  • Proposed Labor Distribution Percent of Salary: 100%

Example II

Working May from 5/18/2026 to 5/29/2026 for half days with AY salary of $75,000.00 on grant A.

Working May from 5/18/2026 to 5/29/2026 for half days with AY salary of $75,000.00 on grant B.

  • Percent of Time: 100%
  • Number of Days: 10
  • Salary Paid: (10 / 21) * ($75,000 / 9) = $3,968.25
  • Proposed Labor Distribution Percent of Salary: 50% on each account

Example III

Working May from 5/18/2026 to 5/26/2026 all day with AV salary of $75,000.00 on grant A.

Working May from 5/27/2026 to 5/29/2025 all day with AV salary of $75,000.00 on grant B.

  • Percent of Time: 100%
    • Number of Days on Grant A: 7
    • Salary Paid on Grant A: (7 / 21) * ($75,000 / 9) = $2,777.78
    • Number of Days on Grant B: 3
    • Salary Paid on Grant B: (3 / 21) * ($75,000 / 9) = $1,190.47
  • Total Salary: $2,777.78 + $1,190.47 = $3,968.25
  • Proposed labor distribution percent of salary grant A:
  • ($2,777.78 / $3,968.25) * 100 = 70%
  • Proposed labor distribution percent of salary grant B:
  • ($1190.47 / $3,968.25) * 100 = 30%
